  • Back to School Update - Updated Drop-Off / Collection Times

    Fri 18 Sep 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,

As the drop off and collection of pupils is now flowing well, from next week onwards, Monday 21st September, we will be adjusting our start and end of day collection times for all our children in Reception – Year 6, which will now be a 15 minute window to minimise on lost teaching time.

Please be mindful that the gates will now close at 8.55am each morning, and the collection time will be between 3.15pm – 3.30pm. Our ongoing monitoring has indicated that the dropping-off/collection process only actually takes 10 minutes, so these updated arrangements will still provide everyone with plenty of time without having to rush.

Please do not arrive early to help avoid unnecessary queuing and congestion on the paths/pavements around the school. The weather has been glorious so far, but as we progress into the Autumn term, we need to ensure that we keep the flow of people moving along quickly so that children are not getting cold or wet whilst waiting to be collected.

    Please remember:

    -       Stay to the left-side and keep walking forward to ensure a smooth flow

    -       Do not arrive before 8.40am / 3.15pm (3.30pm for Nursery)

    -       Have your children ready with all their personal effects (bags/lunch etc) before arriving at the gate

    -       All communications to staff should be made via the children’s Personal Organisers or via e-mail at admin@deanefieldschool.org.uk

It will help us immensely if everyone in our school community follows this guidance, and we thank you in advance for your support.

  • Back to School Update - Lunch Arrangements

    Fri 11 Sep 2020

    Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you for all your support, feedback and adhering to the guidance in helping keep each other safe. The drop off and collection of your children is now working really efficiently, and we appreciate all your support with this. Please remember not to arrive at the gates before they open as it causes unnecessary queueing and the scientific advice is that the longer people are in contact within an area, the greater the risk of infection spreading which is why we need to keep you all moving swiftly to minimise cross contamination. The pavements are very narrow, and we have timed our openings very carefully to minimise congestion with our neighbours.

As things are working well, we are now in a position to re-introduce some further facilities to children.

Hot Dinner Service will resume from w/c 21st September. This means all children in Reception/Years 1 & 2 and any family in receipt of Pupil Premium on request will be offered this provision free of charge and we will no longer be offering school packed lunches. Children in Nursery who stay to lunch and children in Years 3-6 who pay for their dinners can also access this option. However, all orders must be made a week in advance so we can ensure we can allocate the space required for the sitting and keep within the government requirements with keeping year groups separated etc. Next week Mrs Tailor our Operations Manager will advise how you can order your lunches.

Packed lunches We have had several requests from parents for children to be allowed to bring their packed lunch in a lunchbox rather than disposable packaging. You know your child and if you want to give them the responsibility of looking after their own lunch box, keeping it inside their school bag in the morning, and holding onto it throughout lunch after they have eaten and are playing outside, then we won’t object to you sending them into school. However, please be aware that as each ‘bubble’ has its own play zone, lunch bags left down, on the ground can accidently be stood on or kicked and we will not accept responsibility for lost or damaged bags or thermos flasks etc. Many children may find this a challenge in which case using recyclable packaging which can be disposed of straight after eating may be a better option. Your child will not be allowed into the cloakroom until the end of lunchtime to put their lunch box away.
  • Drop-off and Collection Arrangements - Update

    Mon 07 Sep 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to the start of our first full week.

Please note that the drop off window in the mornings is now 08:40 - 09:00 and collection 15:10 - 15:30 (15:30-15:40 for Nursery.) This 20-minute window offers sufficient time for all the pupils to arrive and be collected without being late whilst also allowing free flow.

Please do not arrive before 08:40/15:10 as it causes queuing and congestion along the pathways. If you arrive early, Queensmead pupils will still be arriving and exiting and the pavements cannot cope with the crowding, forcing people to walk on the road.

Once the gates are open, everything moves really swiftly so queuing is unnecessary and causes a nuisance for our neighbours and compromises safety for all. If you do arrive early, please wait in your vehicle or close by away from the gate. There should be no need for queues to form.

As from today all pupils in Years 2 - 6 can enter either access gate that is nearest to their journey from home. Moving forward any Year 1 pupil can also enter via these gates with their older siblings and staff will guide them from the playground.

We thank you for your continued support.

  • Back to School Update - Important Safety Information

    Fri 04 Sep 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,

We must ask all parents that for the safety of all in our community, to adhere to the following:

School gates open at 08:40 or 15:10hrs for drop off and collection (15:30hrs for Nursery). Please do not arrive early and queue obstructing pedestrian pathways

When using pavements, please could everyone always keep to the left-hand side so that others coming towards you can pass safely.

From Monday 7th September, children in Years 2 - 6 (with the exception of 2H) will be allowed to enter via the nearest convenient entrance gate.

Please could all parents keep moving when their child has entered and not obstruct the pathway. This is becoming an issue at the Upper School entrance.

Many thanks for your support in helping us keep everyone as safe as possible.
