Reception Home Learning - Week 4 (27th April - 1st May)

Hi Reception! Everyone from the Reception team is missing you lots and lots and we hope that you are having fun with your families and are enjoying the learning challenges that we have set out for you!

Take a look at our videos on our school YouTube channel (scroll down to the link at the bottom of this page). Did you watch the video we made all about trying to make you laugh? We would love you to put on a joke show for your family and try to make them laugh!

We cannot wait to hear all about your week!

Bingo Challenge Grid – How many boxes will you cross off this week?

Banana Challenge!

Everyone in the family to have a banana. The challenge is to see who can cut their banana into the most pieces. Aside from counting and comparing numbers, fine motor skills will also be developed.

Can you spell out any of the pictures? Can you underline any sounds made up of 2 or 3 letters?

Explore finding half by cutting fruit and vegetables into 2 equal pieces. You can choose to eat... or print. Dip the halves into paint and start printing. Can you create a pattern?

Collect twigs and resources when on your walk or form your garden to make a mini-beast house for all the bugs either in your garden or in a green space nearby.

Practise writing your numbers from 0 - 20 in the right direction in flour, salt, sugar, glitter or soap.

6 – 3 =

7 – 4 =

5 – 2 =

1 – 0 =

10 – 6 =

Work out these subtraction number sentences using drawings or objects to help you e.g. drawing 6 circles then crossing out 3 to find your answer.

Rhyming Rap Battle!

How many words can you rhyme with these words?

he, she, we, me, be, my, was, they, her, all, are, you

Cut out 24 small cards out of paper. Write each tricky word twice on separate cards to create a set of Snap cards. The aim is to find a matching pair.

Practise learning a new skill. This could be folding clothes, doing up buttons, zipping up a hooded top or making your bed.

Animal Antics!

Use your body to pretend to be different animals: Snake: slither across the floor. Butterfly: flutter around the room.

Play the Phase 3 Jolly Phonics song on YouTube. Think of a word for each sound and put it into a silly sentence.

Lucky Dip!

Put some pasta shells in a bowl. Pick up some pasta shells in each hand. Count how many you have picked up in each hand and add them together. Can you write it down as a number sentence?

Draw a picture of your favourite book or film character. Write 3 sentences to describe them. Try to use as many WOW words as you can! Make a reading den using Mr Hull’s video on our school’s YouTube channel to help you. How many books will you read there this week? Learn three new jokes and share them with the people who live with you. Get a large container and fill it with water. Collect different objects from around your house. Do you think that they will sink or float? Test it!
