Deanesfield Primary School

Dream, Believe, Achieve... And Make A Difference!

Session Times

The school operates a ‘soft start’ for all mainstream children as per the times shown below which enables children to start the day calmly, have time to sort out their belongings, and be ready to start learning.

This is not a teaching time, but a quiet time, and children are encouraged to read quietly/practice spellings/do some ‘finishing off’, work on a project or do a puzzle etc.  It also enables teachers to individually greet and acknowledge the children and start the school day in a calm and purposeful manner.

Collecting and Meeting Children

Please make sure that your child arrives and is collected from school on time. Punctuality is essential.  If your child arrives late the whole class can be disrupted and it could unsettle your child and others in the class.  In the unlikely event you are late you must report to the school office to register your child.

If you are unable to meet your child at the end of the day, please let the teacher know in the morning or telephone the school as soon as possible to let us know who will be collecting them or how late you are likely to be.  No child will be left unsupervised at the end of the day.  Children left after 3.30 p.m. will be taken to the School Office / Main Reception gate to await collection. Children left after 3.45 are taken to our After School Care Club and parents/carers are charged for this.  A log is kept of all children who regularly arrive late and are collected late.  This is shared and discussed with the Local Authority Educational Welfare Officer on a half-termly basis.

No child is allowed to leave the school grounds without an adult. Children in Years 5 & 6 will only be permitted to walk home alone if you have provided written consent to the School.
